Citrix Xenapp: How to Reduce/Eliminate Network Printing Problems
When implementing a remote printing solution like Citrix Xenapp, one of the major hurdles administrators most often have to overcome is how minimize and/or avoid network problems. This is because many moving parts (ie, the operating system, the printing device and the system user) must all work together seamlessly to create the desired output.
Following is some insight into how you can reduce and/or altogether eliminate network printing problems when by using Citrix Xenapp.
Citrix Xenapp Uses Autocreation: One of the most common problems with remote server printing is freezing or hanging. Remember those “moving parts” discussed just above? Freezing and hanging most often result when these are incompatible in some way.
For example, the print driver may be incompatible with the operating system.
Citrix Xenapp’s autocreation prevents this from happening by using a database to match the client printer driver to the print driver on the server, making compatibility a non-issue.
Develop a Print Strategy: Technology is only as good as the end user. Having a print strategy can cut down on and/or preventing network printing problems by ensuring that the system doesn’t get bogged and clogged down.
To explain, when a user sends a document to print, it travels from the Citrix server to the WAN to the end-user’s printer. Some print files can be large and some WAN bandwidths can be comparatively small. Hence, the system gets clogged, slows down, freezes and/or hangs. When you factor in that many files are being sent by multiple users, it’s evident how system mayhem can ensue.
The foundation of all printing strategies is to produce superior-quality products, quickly and at a reasonable cost.
Citrix Xenapp printing provides administrators with the technology they need to do this by maximizing order-to-delivery cycle times, automating order-flow processes and reducing human error.
